The use of solar energy offers numerous adavantages, especially in Africa where levels of radiation from the sun are much higher than average and where many countries lack any centralised infrastructure to support a national energy supply. While the demand for electricity rapidly increases in Burkina Faso, buying the necessary technology for converting energy from the sun’s rays into electricity is much too expensive for the vast majority of the population. In providing the people of rural Burkina Faso with access to even the most basic of energy supplies and to sensitise them to the use of renewable energy, SEWA has two ongoing programmes providing rural areas with solar-powered electricity:

Light for schools
Solar powered light for a better education in Burkina Faso!
Light for rural health centers

Improve health care in Burkina Faso through solar energy!
